As the trusted life and health insurance partner of Filipinos in pursuing a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, Allianz PNB Life explored the possible shift in Filipinos’ attitudes and behaviors toward health in the past 12 months. If there is one clear takeaway from the research, it is that the gap between Filipinos and proper health and protection measures remains. Only a fifth of respondents feel that they are adequately protected from financial predicaments arising from unforeseen medical situations. Though many more respondents used the word somewhat to describe their readiness, Allianz PNB Life interprets somewhat as a sign of a lack of confidence. For some, serious conditions like cancer, heart disease, COVID-19, and brain diseases force them to dip into their salaries and savings, or to borrow from others, to pay for the needed medical attention.
It can also be interpreted from the results of the study that even with Philhealth and an HMO, most respondents feel that this is not enough to support them for health emergencies. Allianz PNB Life aims to bridge the protection gap by introducing comprehensive health insurance plans, such as Allianz Well! and eAZy Health. Depending on an individual's needs, both products can provide the needed peace of mind from the financial burden of medical expenses in case illness strikes.
